What is it?
Geothermal technology (also known as geothermal heat pumps or ground source heat pumps) is a GREEN TECHNOLOGY that uses the natural temperature of the earth to heat or cool a home or other building, and to heat domestic water at a lower cost.
In winter, a water solution circulating through pipes buried in the ground absorbs heat from the earth and carries it into the home. The system inside the home or building uses a heat pump to concentrate the earth’s energy, transfer it to air circulated through standard ductwork, and fill the interior with warmth.
In summer, the process is reversed to cool the building: heat is extracted from the air inside, expelled to the underground piping, and absorbed by the earth.
